Successful participation of CAF Power at the IREE 2019 trade fair

CAF Power has had a successful participation at the IREE (International Railway Equipment Exhibition) trade fair that was held in the Indian city of New Delhi in October.

At this exhibition we have reinforced the projects that we have launched in India and have also had the opportunity to promote the benefits of the control, traction and energy storage solutions we offer.

We would like to acknowledge the work and involvement of the team from CAF Power at this event. We also would like to thank the many clients and visitors who dedicated their time to learning about our locomotive traction and modernisation products and services, and also the country’s authorities, such as Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav -Chairman, Railway Board and Ex-Officio Principal Secretary Government of India, Ministry of Railways-.

CAF Power in India

In 2011, CAF Power delivered its first traction converter for electric locomotives. Since then, and thanks to the collaboration with our partner CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, more than 250 locomotives of the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works company are operating in India using our traction solution.

CLW has recently celebrated the commissioning of its locomotive number 7,000, a WAG9, within the range of 17 models that the company manufactures since 1961.

During these years, the technology of CLW locomotives has evolved towards the current models, based on IGBT technology.

In addition, CAF Power & Automation was chosen to develop and manufacture a prototype of the traction train and the electrical components of Train 18, a semi-high speed inter-city train designed and built by Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. a semi-high speed inter-city train designed and built by Make in India initiative, and which started operating in late October 2018.

ICF Integral Coach Factory, in Chennai, has a long and renowned track record in the Indian railway market. Since 1955, its activity has focused on the design and manufacture of passenger vehicles, such as EMUS and metro trains, with an approximate production of 2,000 coaches per year.

 

The CAF Group in India

The CAF Group has a commercial office in Delhi (CAF India PVP Ltd). And last year it opened its new offices in the Pullman/Novotel Commercial Tower.

In 2008, CAF was awarded the contract from the Delhi Metro Rail Corp. to supply eight metro units with six coaches.

These units started operating commercially in 2010 and connect Indira Gandhi International Airport with the central station in New Delhi.
